The current news cycle is being swamped with news about William Hague MP, Foreign Secretary – in my opinion it is a sad display of how modern day media continues to hound personalities and people in politics.
Fundraising
In our amongst our Council work and Conservative Party activities Jan and I are working to raise funds for David in his Mayoral year, having been Mayor of Brentwood since May.
Budget Response
The recent Your Brentwood Your Budget consultation gave residents an historic and unique opportunity to be part of the budget setting process for our town. The response was excellent and now the results are being pulled together.
Sensory Garden Club
Today (even with the weather) we are proud to launch “The Sensory Garden Club” at King George’s Park. This is project being spearheaded by Joy Dunn a local Warley resident who is passionate about helping to involve people in our local community.
Devils Head Update
The disappointing news that Essex County Council will be unable fund junction improvements to Devils Head has not stopped us from continuing to apply the pressure to those at County Hall.
Busy August
It is usual practice that the Council goes into a type of “recess” during August in the same way that Parliament does. Well this hasn’t been the case so far this year! But we love it that way!
Keep our Lights on
Last night I was interviewed on Phoenix FM on a show featuring former Conservative Councillor Russell Quirk, he had called me to discuss the recent vandalism in King George’s Park and the work we had done to repair the damage so that people could use the area again. Then I was asked a further intriguing question…
Play Area Update – July 2010

We were proud to have our former Mayor, Cllr Tony Sleep and Council Leader, Cllr Louise McKinley open our new King George’s Play area just a few months ago. It has been well received by many residents and we are proud to have such a wonderful facility in our park. This last week we have had to deal with some problems with the equipment though.
Trailwalker Challenge
Last weekend I took part in a team challenge along the South Downs raising funds for The Gurkha Welfare Trust through the Trailwalker 2010 Challenge organised by Oxfam.
A Royal Visit
On Tuesday as Mayor of Brentwood I had the opportunity to visit Buckingham Palace. It was an amazing day!
